A.What is Chinese Medicine(CM) Chinese Medicine(CM)is also called as Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),it is a Medicine system with multiple therapy methods(Chinese herbal medicine,acupuncture and moxibution,Chinese therapy massage(tui na),cupping,qigong and dietary therapy),under guided by an unique medicine theory. CM has a long history(about 3000 years), The theories and therapy methods of CM come mainly from practice and have been continually enriched and expanded through practice. So CM has high practice value with reliable therapy results and less side effects.
B. CM is a developing Medicine CM is with traditional factors ,also at the same times, with modernization factors, that the reason why we prefer to use Chinese Medicine(CM) instead of using traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). CM is a developing Medicine ,because of this, it has vivid and boundless prospects, it is worth learning ,studying and applying all over the world. Since more than 2000 years ago Canon of Medicine, the earliest of the extant medical classics in China was produced, in the whole CM history, appeared many outstanding medical doctors and left a lot of masterpieces , and contributed greatly to CM development. For example, Zhang Zhongjing published Treatise on Febrile Diseases and Miscellaneous diseases (300 A.D),Chao Yuanfang(610 A.D) compiled the book General Treaties on Causes and Symptoms of diseaeses , Sun Simiao(581-682 A.D) wrote out two books: Prescriptions Worth a thousand Gold for Emergencies and A Supplement to the Essential Prescriptions worth a thousand Gold . In the time of Jin and Yuan dynasties (1200-1400 A.D) ,there appeared 4 main medical schools in the circle of CM, each of which had its own special features. Li Shizhen(1518-1593 A.D) took him 27 years to accomplish his book: Compendium of Materia Medica ,with a great contribution to the development of pharmacology both in China and throughout the world.
In the last more than 100 years, with the widespread use of Conventional Medicine in China, many medical workers have come to realize that CM and Conventional Medicine have their own advantages. As a matter of fact, CM and Conventional Medicine are both the fruit of prolonged hard work, intelligence and wisdom of mankind under different historical conditions, yet both have human beings as the object of study. Hence they should cooperate with and learn from the other’s strong points to offset its own weaknesses.
In China now, there are about 400,000 CM doctors,1500 CM hospitals with 100,000 beds,26 CM universities and 30 academies. In CM researches, great importance has been attached not only to the systematization and compilation of the documents of various ages, but also to do the best efforts to the application of modern scientific approaches in carrying out researches in terms of the basic theories of CM. As a results, much improvement has been made in the treatment of common diseases, frequently encountered diseases and difficult and complicated cases. On 4th January 1986, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China has been established. CM has now reached a new stages of development.
C.The advantages of CM Although today the conventional medicine also enters a new area, stem cells ,gene engineer and new investigation equipments and so on changes the face of modern medicine, but CM has not lost his practice value in the UK and the whole of the world. The facts tell us that many common chronic diseases, difficult and complicated cases need help and relieve effectively, using CM may fulfill the requirements. CM also shows its strong points in health preservation, diseases prevention and health rehabilitation. Keeping well and fit, enjoy life with a long life span is everyone’ dream.
